The plot is a good one along with the setting-a time of miracles at Christmas time and magic. I started listening to that rather than the story! The narrator’s voice is annoying at times when in both hero and heroine dialogue he breathes in at the end of the phrase. Again, I think it is because of the shortness of the novella, preventing the fleshing of and feelings of the characters) I couldn’t find anything in her to admire. I didn’t like that she could dismiss so easily her sisters’ concerns to have her consider marriage. I see some seeds of strength in her, but she easily is manipulated by Sir Rennington and then forgives him. Holly isn’t a very likable heroine, either. If Holly had been another woman, he would have pursued her and not felt badly tricking her. He changes only when he is cornered, realizing what he was doing to his best friend’s angel, Holly, and feeling guilty. Even when he, himself, realizes he’s a jerk, I couldn’t forgive him. (probably has something to do with the narrator’s approach) Of course, the reader hears what he is thinking. I didn’t like the hero, Sir Rennington of Ashbourne, particularly at the end of the story.
