She spent the last 25 years of her life living in the Oregon woods, but she was also an urbane and urban-focused creative.Ĭorinne wrote of her move to Oregon where she lived in various women's land communities before settling in her own place outside Medford, "Slowly, in Oregon, I reconnected with the deep levels of creativity that run in me and began producing work which pleased me." Known best for her erotic lesbian photographs and her photographic portraits, Corrine was also an artist, writer, poet, essayist, sex educator and art historian. Printmaking was one way I could integrate art with politics. I was a southerner active in the civil rights movement in the south. Fine art has problems with accessibility. According to Completely Queer: The Gay and Lesbian Encyclopedia, "Tee Corinne is one of the most visible and accessible lesbian artists in the world."Ĭorinne said in an interview with photographer Barbara Kyne in 2000 about why she chose photography: "I wanted to do something where content and politics could be satisfied. Obscure? Certainly not within artistic circles nor within the queer art world where she began doing groundbreaking work in the 1960s. Over her decades as a lesbian photographer and artist, Tee Corinne said, "I'm one of the most obscure famous artists."įamous? Yes. This article shared 1792 times since Tue Oct 19, 2021

6/9/2023 0 Comments A curious beginning reviewAfter burying her spinster aunt, the orphaned Veronica is free to resume her world travels in pursuit of scientific inquiry-and the occasional romantic dalliance. As she sees it, her biggest gift is her ability to hide. The main individual we follow is a young woman named Mack, who has a very violent, traumatic past. Additionally, it's not clear at all who, or what, the Seekers are. With two contestants getting caught and out of the game each day, the tension increasingly mounts. We follow multiple different perspectives as the contest begins and a Hunger Games-type vibe falls over the narrative. The only things they really know are that it is hosted by a sporting goods company and the prize is $50,000. Seemingly selected at random from some sort of need-based selection process, the fourteen individuals are complete strangers and come from locations scattered throughout the United States.įrom the very start the contest is shrouded in mystery. In this story we follow fourteen contestants competing in a Hide-and-Seek contest at an abandoned amusement park. One of my all-time favorite tropes are games, or competitions, so when I heard the synopsis for Kiersten White's Adult Debut, Hide, I instantly added it to my TBR. 6/8/2023 0 Comments The beatles anthology book buyThe Anthology book, released in 2000, paralleled the documentary in presenting the group's history through quotes from interviews. The documentary used interviews with the Beatles and their associates to narrate the history of the band as seen through archival footage and performances. The documentary series was first broadcast in November 1995, with expanded versions released on VHS and LaserDisc in 1996 and on DVD in 2003. Beatles members Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr participated in the making of the works, which are sometimes referred to collectively as the Anthology project, while John Lennon appears in archival interviews. The Beatles Anthology is a multimedia retrospective project consisting of a television documentary, a three-volume set of double albums, and a book describing the history of the Beatles.
